For decades, the Company“s main business activity was the production of sodium cyanide, potassium cyanide, liquid hydrogen cyanide, black, ammonium sulfate and hydrogen cyanide made from so-called molasses residues supplied by distilleries. Nearly all of sodium cyanide was exported to South Africa where it was used for gold mining in which generated cyanide complexes are stabilized with lime milk (restricted leak of aqueous hydrogen cyanide) to be subsequently precipitated, for instance, by means of zinc powder or by means of another suitable method; it also find application in electro plating.
