For decades, the Company“s main business activity was the production of sodium cyanide, potassium cyanide, liquid hydrogen cyanide, black, ammonium sulfate and hydrogen cyanide made from so-called molasses residues supplied by distilleries. Nearly all of sodium cyanide was exported to South Africa where it was used for gold mining in which generated cyanide complexes are stabilized with lime milk (restricted leak of aqueous hydrogen cyanide) to be subsequently precipitated, for instance, by means of zinc powder or by means of another suitable method; it also find application in electro plating. The production of diphenyl guanidine started in early 1950“s.
The current backbone production program involved the manufacturing of synthetic hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and its further processing in the form of 3 major products: sodium cyanide (NaCN) – for the purpose of gold mining and electroplating practice; cyanhydrin (ACH) – for the purpose of manufacturing plastics and plexi glass; diphenyl guanidine (DPG) – as a vulcanization accelerator in the rubber industry. The fourth backbone item made by Draslovka is chlorcholinchloride, a product of non-cyan chemistry (RTC) whose production is seasonal and that is used as a growth morpho-regulator in agriculture. These four products account for almost 95% of the Company“s overall production. The remaining production segment includes products for metal masking, water treatment, production of paints and relief plasters and others. Approximately 90% of Draslovka“s production goes to world markets being represented mainly by sodium cyanide. Other products find their customers mostly on European markets. Draslovka“s production volume of diphenyl guanidine (DPG) satisfies 15 – 17% of world demand.
Draslovka“s business plan for the period to come focuses on the development of new products, specifically on the products exploiting typical HCN reactions; on the modification of the existing products (hydrolysis, amides, esterification, addition to a double bond, etc.); and also on substances that are not derived from HCN (fertilizers, polymers and others) .
Our company ?Lu?ební závody Draslovka a.s. Kolín“ holds quality management system certificates issued in accordance with ISO 9001.
The management system covers the development and production of HCN, diphenyl guanidine (commercial name: DENAX), chlorcholinchloride (commercial name: RETACEL) and from December 2005 also the manufacturing of cyanides.
The first certificate was granted in December 1999. Draslovka successfully passed several control audits performed by Lloyd′s Register Quality Assurance.
